How Much Does HVAC Marketing Cost?

HVAC marketing cost comes from four places: the agency fee, ad spend, Local Services Ads leads and your website. WebFX puts typical pricing at $2,500 to $12,000 a month for a small to medium-sized company (undated; checked October 28, 2026). Alpyne Strategy's planning range, dated April 15 and October 10, 2026, is $2,500 to $10,000 or more.

Ad spend is paid to Google and Meta, and Local Services Ads charge by the lead. Your market can push any of these numbers up or down. If you run an established heating and cooling company, you've probably seen a pitch that wrapped the fee, the ad budget and the website into one number. That makes two quotes hard to compare.

This article separates the four costs and shows the ranges three agency guides publish for each channel. It also lists what ASP's packages include, at the prices on our pricing page. ASP is a growth-systems marketing agency for home service operators and a Housecall Pro Affiliate.

This page covers what each part costs. Deciding how much to spend in total is a separate question. Our article on how much an HVAC company should spend on marketing walks through it. Our complete guide to HVAC marketing strategies covers which channels to run and when.

The Four Costs Behind HVAC Marketing

An HVAC marketing budget splits into four lines. Each one is paid to a different party or on different terms. It helps to look at them one at a time before you compare quotes.

The agency or management fee

This is what you pay the people who run the work. That includes SEO, ad management, your Business Profile, content and reporting. Alpyne Strategy's HVAC cost guide, by Elizabeth Ortlieb and dated April 15 and October 10, 2026, gives example monthly agency fees.

It lists $2,500 to $3,500 for limited SEO, reporting or one channel, and $3,500 to $5,000 for multi-channel work. Broader strategy and multiple campaigns run $5,000 to $10,000 or more. The guide calls these "example budget ranges, not independently verified 2027 market averages."

Ask any agency, ASP included, to show its fee on its own line. Alpyne Strategy's guide gives the same advice: "Separate agency fees from actual media spend." Some published figures mix the two. Matt Watson's April 21, 2026 guide for Watson & Co. Marketing, for example, gives one Google Ads figure that covers ad spend and management together.

Ad spend paid to the platforms

Ad spend is the money Google and Meta charge to show your ads. With ASP, your Google Ads, Meta and Local Services Ads accounts are set up in your name. The spend is paid straight to the platforms from your own accounts. It is not part of any ASP fee, and ASP never collects, holds, disburses or marks up that spend.

Our What You Own page lists every account and asset that stays in your name. How much to put into ads depends on your market. ASP's package prices don't include an ad spend number.

Published example budgets show how wide the spread can be. Alpyne Strategy's example Google Ads budgets start at $1,000 to $2,000 a month for focused campaigns in a limited service area. They go up to $5,000 to $10,000 or more for multiple campaigns and larger markets.

Local Services Ads, billed per lead

Local Services Ads charge by the lead instead of by the click. Google's help page on Local Services Ads bidding says, "You only pay when you get a lead." Google's getting-started page for US Local Services Ads lists HVAC (heating or air conditioning) as a category, and availability depends on your area. Leads arrive as phone calls and messages sent through the ad, and customers can also book with you directly through it.

The price of a lead is not fixed. Google says that when similar local businesses bid on the same lead, those bids determine how much the lead is worth. You can let Google bid for the most leads within your budget, or set a target cost per lead or a manual maximum for each lead. Watson & Co. Marketing's guide puts HVAC Local Services Ads leads at $25 to $55 each, depending on the market.

Not every lead is charged. Google's page on automated Local Services Ads lead credits says leads it determines to be invalid or low quality are not charged. Charged leads may also be credited automatically if they're later found to be low quality.

Google no longer supports credits for leads about job types you don't service or areas you don't cover. Keep your service list and service area accurate in the account.

What an HVAC website costs

WebFX's HVAC marketing pricing page (undated; checked October 28, 2026) says web design pricing ranges from $1,000 to $100,000 per website.

At ASP, a custom website is an add-on to the Foundation package. It carries a one-time setup fee at signup and is then included monthly. WordPress refreshes are quoted separately.

The Growth package includes a custom website build. Premier includes a custom website rebuilt annually as strategy evolves. Your domain, DNS, hosting, the site's source code and its design files are registered to you.

Key Takeaway: Ask for the agency fee, ad spend, Local Services Ads leads and website on separate lines, so you can see what goes to the platforms and what goes to the agency.

What Changes the Cost of HVAC Marketing

Two HVAC companies can ask for the same services and get very different quotes. Four things move the number.

Your market. Alpyne Strategy's guide says your advertising budget depends on several factors. It names your location, competition, services and the types of customers you want to reach. Watson & Co. Marketing's guide says HVAC cost per click runs $10 to $35, depending on your market and season.

Competition. In Local Services Ads, the bids of similar local businesses set what a lead is worth. Alpyne Strategy also notes that some competitive markets may require significantly more investment to generate a useful volume of leads.

Your service mix. Repair, replacement and maintenance searches come from different buyers. A tune-up call and a full system replacement can be worth very different amounts to your business. A shop chasing more replacements is buying a different kind of lead than one filling its schedule with service calls. The right budget starts from what a booked job is worth to you.

The season. HVAC call volume rises and falls with the heating and cooling seasons. Ad spend should move with it instead of running flat all year. During heat waves and cold snaps, emergency repair terms and Local Services Ads take the bigger share of the budget. Between the peaks, tune-up campaigns line up with the ENERGY STAR maintenance checklist.

That checklist tells homeowners to check the cooling system in the spring and the heating system in the fall. The reason it gives is that contractors get busy once summer and winter come. Our HVAC marketing services page shows how ASP shifts budget between emergency repair and planned work as the weather turns.

HVAC Marketing Cost by Channel

Sources: Alpyne Strategy, "How Much Does HVAC Marketing Cost in 2027? Agency Fees, Advertising Budgets & ROI," by Elizabeth Ortlieb, dated April 15 and October 10, 2026. Watson & Co. Marketing, "How Much Should HVAC Companies Spend on Advertising?," by Matt Watson, April 21, 2026. WebFX, "HVAC Marketing Pricing: How Much Does HVAC Marketing Cost?," undated; checked October 28, 2026.

The guides disagree most on Google Ads. Watson & Co. Marketing lists $1,500 to $5,000 a month, including management. WebFX says small-to-midsized businesses invest an average of $9,000 to $10,000 a month in PPC.

The cost-per-click figures are far apart too. WebFX gives $1 to $2 as a general Google Ads average and notes that CPC varies widely by industry. Watson & Co. Marketing's $10 to $35 is stated for HVAC. The SEO ranges overlap but still differ, at $800 to $2,500 in one guide and $1,500 to $5,000 in the other.

Use the ranges to sanity-check a quote. To plan from your own numbers, the ASP Marketing Budget Calculator gives you a starting budget range from your revenue, industry and market.

Key Takeaway: Published HVAC marketing cost ranges disagree, especially for Google Ads, so treat them as a check on a quote rather than a price list for your market.

What ASP's HVAC Marketing Packages Include

ASP publishes its package prices on the pricing page. Ad spend is not part of any ASP fee. It goes straight to the platforms from your own accounts.

Package Price What it includes
Foundation $2,500 / month Monthly performance report; organic SEO (service pages, content, technical fixes); Local SEO Pro (GBP, citations, heatmap, rankings); Content Creation Package (social + GBP content); Housecall Pro attribution setup. Custom website available as an add-on, with a one-time setup fee at signup and then included monthly.
Growth $3,850 / month Everything in Foundation, plus a custom website build (included); paid media management (Google Ads, Meta, LSA); full social + GBP posting management; HCP AI onboarding (CSR AI, dispatch, reporting); monthly strategy review; fractional CMO-level marketing direction.
Premier Custom (contact for details) Everything in Growth, plus a custom website rebuilt annually as strategy evolves; full-funnel marketing ownership across every channel; custom AI integrations beyond HCP; quarterly business review and revenue planning; dedicated account leadership.

If you'd rather start with one piece, ASP also runs two standalone services. Each one includes a quarterly review.

  • Local SEO Pro, $1,200 / month: full-service Business Profile management, citation acquisition, a local ranking heatmap, review capture automation and a monthly ranking report.
  • Content Creation Package, $499 / month: 12–16 branded social graphics and captions plus weekly Google Business Profile post content, delivered monthly.

If you want ASP to run your Google Ads and Local Services Ads, paid media management is included from Growth up. Operators doing $3M or more a year, most often $5M and up, who want senior-level marketing leadership can ask about Fractional C-Suite. It covers budget ownership, financial planning and channel-level P&L.

Should You Judge HVAC Marketing by Cost per Lead?

Cost per lead is easy to measure, but it doesn't tell you whether the lead turned into work. A tune-up call and a full system replacement can come from the same campaign and be worth very different amounts. Alpyne Strategy's guide makes a related point. It calls cost per acquired customer a useful starting point for judging what you spend.

In this hypothetical with made-up numbers, Channel A brings in leads at $40 each, and one in five books. Channel B's leads cost $80 each, and one in two books. That works out to $200 per booked job for Channel A and $160 for Channel B. In this example, the channel with the cheaper leads costs more per booked job.

ASP judges every channel on cost per booked job. Each call and form is tagged with its source. That source follows the lead onto the job in your CRM, where your CRM supports attribution.

On Housecall Pro, booked revenue can be sent back to Google Ads as an offline conversion. Google can then bid toward the leads that become jobs. Our guide to marketing attribution for home service businesses shows how the tracking fits together. Our HVAC advertising page covers how ASP runs Google Ads and Local Services Ads for HVAC.

ASP doesn't guarantee rankings, lead volumes or revenue. You see the numbers behind every channel instead, and every account stays in your name.

Key Takeaway: Compare channels on cost per booked job, using tracking that follows each lead from its source to the job in your CRM.

Comparing HVAC Marketing Quotes

When you line up quotes, put each one into the same four lines. Those are the agency fee, ad spend, Local Services Ads leads and the website. Check whether ad spend is paid to the platforms from your own accounts or folded into the agency's bill. Ask how each channel will be measured against booked jobs.

Use the published ranges above as a check, not as a price for your area. To work out your total, read our article on setting your HVAC marketing budget. The ASP Marketing Budget Calculator gives you a starting budget range from your revenue, industry and market. If you want a second look at your current setup, book a call with ASP.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does HVAC marketing cost per month?
It depends on your market and what you want your marketing to do. Alpyne Strategy's October 2026 guide says an HVAC company might consider $2,500 to $10,000 or more per month for marketing services and advertising combined. WebFX (undated; checked October 28, 2026) puts typical pricing for a small to medium-sized company at $2,500 to $12,000 per month. Use those ranges to check a quote, not as a price for your area.
Is ad spend included in ASP's monthly price?
No. Your Google Ads, Meta and Local Services Ads accounts are set up in your name, and you pay the platforms directly from your own accounts. Ad spend is not part of any ASP fee. ASP does not collect, hold, disburse or mark up your advertising spend. How much to spend on ads depends on your market.
How much do HVAC Local Services Ads cost?
You pay per lead, not per click. Google's help page says you only pay when you get a lead. It also says that when similar local businesses bid on the same lead, those bids determine how much the lead is worth. Watson & Co. Marketing's April 2026 guide puts HVAC Local Services Ads leads at $25 to $55 each, depending on the market. Google says leads it determines to be invalid or low quality are not charged.
How much does an HVAC website cost?
WebFX's HVAC pricing page (undated; checked October 28, 2026) says web design pricing ranges from $1,000 to $100,000 per website. At ASP, a custom website is an add-on to the Foundation package, with a one-time setup fee at signup and then included monthly. Growth includes a custom website build, and Premier includes a custom website rebuilt annually. Your domain, hosting, source code and design files are registered to you.
How much does HVAC SEO cost?
Published ranges differ. Watson & Co. Marketing's April 2026 guide lists SEO at $800 to $2,500 per month. WebFX (undated; checked October 28, 2026) puts the average for small to midsized HVAC companies at $1,500 to $5,000 per month. At ASP, organic SEO is included in Foundation at $2,500 / month, along with Local SEO Pro and the Content Creation Package. Local SEO Pro is also available on its own at $1,200 / month.
Should I judge HVAC marketing by cost per lead?
Cost per lead is a starting point, but cost per booked job tells you more. A tune-up call and a full system replacement can come from the same campaign and be worth very different amounts. Tag every call and form with its source, and follow it to the booked job in your CRM where your CRM supports attribution. Then compare channels on what each booked job cost.
How much should I budget for HVAC marketing in total?
That depends on your revenue, margins and growth goal, which is a separate question from what each piece costs. Our article on soft HVAC demand and your marketing budget walks through ASP's planning framework for setting spend as a percentage of revenue. The ASP Marketing Budget Calculator gives you a starting budget range from your revenue, industry and market.
